What have books come to???

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY! I hope that everyone has a great Independence day!

Recently I have been searching for a good book for me, a 14 year old girl. I have been noticing that there are very few good books for teens that have no inappropriate content, cursing, or very little violence. So what has our culture come to? We let our children read books that teach them to use curse words and violence to solve problems. We live in a culture where people seem appalled that I have not read the Harry Potter series. Not to read it was my choice. I chose to not read a book series that I do not agree with. Why can't people understand that and get over it? One of my teachers even taught to Harry Potter and said in class "I don't know anyone who hasn't read this book because you would be stupid not to." WHAT??? There are people in the world who don't like magic or sorcery. It seems as if all books that come out now are full of scenes that are inappropriate for even teens, so why do the parents let them read these things? My mother has stopped reading the books that come out for adults because they are too violent and inappropriate.

I have put together a list. This list has my favorite books and authors for teens. These books has very little violence and no inappropriate content. So here it goes!

BOOKS (Just a FEW of my favorites! Not in order at all.)
1: The Goose Girl (The Books of Bayern Series) by Shannon Hale
2: The Penderwicks Series by Jeanne Birdsall
3: Anne of Greene Gables Series by Lucy Maud Montgomery
4: Princess Academy by Shannon Hale
5: Fairest by Gail Carson Levine
6: Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine
7: Hope Was Here by Joan Bauer
8: A Wrinkle in Time Series by Madeleine L'Engle
9: The Tale of Desperaux by Kate DiCamillo
10: Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
11: The Giver Series by Lois Lowry
12: The Cabinet of Wonders by Marie Rutkosky
13: Journey to the River Sea by Eva Ibbotson
14: Found (The Missing Series) by Margaret P. Haddix

AUTHORS
1: Shannon Hale
2: Gale Carson Levine
3: Jane Austen (There are none of her books in the list above because I wanted you all to go and find your own way through her books. She is amazing and you should read her!)

Again, these are just some of my favorite Authors and Books! I know that what I wrote could be very  controversial so please don't take any offense. These are my thoughts, not yours!!!

XOXO
